Impact on our community through Partnerships

One of the hallmarks of Ennovate Lab’s work is our conviction in forming partnerships to address our community challenges. We never work alone; it forms a strong strand binding us.

There is a growing understanding that to address the leading challenges in the world, inequality and the changing nature of employment, we must pool our collective resources, skills, and power from all sectors and individuals.

By bringing together the dedication, assets, and experience of different individuals and groups to tackle complex challenges, partnerships for impact open a vast and underutilised pool of resources for community advancement.

At Ennovate Lab, our partnerships are focused on having a significant influence on our community. We engage in partnerships that are multi-sector and intra-sectoral, designed to have a clear and considerable effect on our community's goals. The partnerships have clear goals, a visible division of labour, and an adaptability and learning mechanism.

The core purpose of our impact partnership as an innovation strategy is to scale current practical training in a specific area through the power of cross-sector collaboration and to produce new ideas and solutions with a quantifiable impact that are provided across sectors.

While forming a functioning connection between investors, organisations, and government funding bodies is complex, Ennovate Lab has successfully created the partnerships required to make a difference in our community.

In February, we hosted a virtual event on using the product field tool, a collaboration tool for product development, in association with Field, through Michael Scheiben (co-founder, Field). In March, the event was followed by a 3-hour closed-door comprehensive training on using the device for six start-ups in our community.

These six start-ups now have the resources they need to make a difference in their communities. In addition to technical skills, our partnership training instils the soft skills necessary to engage with others humanely. These start-ups, we believe, are transforming the community. We could not have done it on our own.

We partnered with DeepSpace in May to create and co-own a network of innovation and enterprise development institutions, including a Makerspace, Hackerspace, Incubator, Marketplace, and Vocational Learning Center. So far, we have worked on DeepSpace's business development and consultation.

TREC was hosted in May in collaboration with Eridan Group and Melting Pot, and we were in charge of public relations and a portion of the media expenses. TREC was a forum for all Nigerian education stakeholders to deliberate and design a new route for the country's education, focusing on home-schooling. Education is one of our core beliefs at eLab, particularly for individuals in our community, regardless of age or social position.

In November, we developed and managed an innovation challenge and Spelling Bee for secondary kids in the Epe community in Lagos state in collaboration with Three Fold Impact by Mrs Remi Odunsi.

We announced a partnership with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in September to promote an African anti-corruption hackathon across our platforms through October and provide coaching to the participants. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime has launched a month-long hackathon in Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa in order to assist governments in promoting youth innovation and leveraging new technology in the fight against corruption. The hackathon offered young developers the opportunity to propose ideas for using technology to combat corruption in Nigeria.

Through a partnership with Tech4Dev, we onboarded four young females on our virtual internship program in April. They had previously completed a month of training with Tech4Dev's Women Techster program in software programming and UI/UX design. The internship lasted three months, and it ended awesomely. Grace Akinremi, one of these interns, came down to Ogbomoso after the course was over to receive additional training in front-end web development from our team.

These are only a few of the recent partnerships we have had. We deliver our innovation skills in a collaborative, high-intensity, organised, but agile manner through these projects. Each initiative has the support and endorsement of individuals and businesses, as well as the hearts and minds of social start-ups and communities.
